alchemy: a seemingly magical process of transformation, creation, or combination.
Did you know that a humble coffee bean holds within it the power of transformation? When nurtured with care, this small seed can sprout into a magnificent coffee tree, bearing fruit in a myriad of colors and flavors.
In the hills of coffee farms, skilled hands pluck only the ripest cherries, carefully selecting the ones that hold the essence of pure magic within them. The chosen cherries undergo a sacred alchemical process, where they are dried in the sun or have their pulp removed, revealing the beans within.
These enchanted beans are then sent on a journey across vast oceans and distant lands, where they are roasted to perfection by sorcerers who imbue them with their unique flavor profile. From bright and floral to bold and robust, each bean holds within it a world of sensory experiences waiting to be unlocked.
And finally, the true magic happens when these beans are brewed into a warm, comforting elixir that brings people together, sharing stories, and weaving memories that last a lifetime. A cup of coffee is not just a beverage, it is a portal to a world of connection, a reminder that even the simplest things can hold within them the power to transform and bring joy.
Surrounding myself with coffee at a young age, I quickly recognized the magic behind this plant. It is not only something that many people begin their day with, but it is a tether with others. A thread between us, weaving together like-minded individuals to gather and connect.
At a difficult chapter in my life, I found myself retreating back to the coffee industry. It felt safe. The shop I worked for was one-of-a-kind in which the staff quickly became a support system in my life I didn't expect. After stepping foot behind the barista bar, I never wanted to be anywhere else. The people I met, the connection I made, the memories I have — they nurtured me into the person I am today. I will continue to cherish that, and I have found that since moving across the country that I want to nourish this seed of a dream that was birthed from stepping into that first barista role at the age of 19 years-old.
This has always been the dream for Folkcraft. It is in the name — folk, the people — and craft, the alchemy of creation. I had envisioned it being more than a coffee shop, but a physical space where people gather, teach, and inspire. It would be somewhere that would host community workshops and gatherings, centered around the idea of intentional living and creating rituals into our lives. It would hold other items crafted by other magical folks to incorporate into ones magical routine.
I am beyond grateful to share this vision and to take you all along on this journey,
